The ANT CHAIR is so called because the original design, when it was first introduced by the Danish furniture and interior designer Arne Emil Jacobsen, appeared to have the profile of an ant with its head raised. The ANT CHAIR upon which our superb reproduction is inspired by was originally designed for use in a cantee, however, it is fair to say this unique design by Arne Emil Jacobsen is equally fabulous at home in a modern home or an office environment.

The name Arne Jacobsen is only used to describe the characteristics of the goods made to the original design, and not as a trade mark.

Arne Emil Jacobsen

Arne Emil Jacobsen (1902 -1971) was a Danish architect and designer. In particular, he is remembered for developing the 'Danish Modern' style and for contributing so much to architectural functionalism. In addition to his architectural work, he was one ofof the most important contributors to Danish design, especially as a result of the worldwide success he enjoyed with simple but effective chair designs.
