The BS 5 - Wall Lamp was created in 1951 by Bernhard Schottlander. Bernhard Schottlander was an admirer of was an American sculptor Alexander Calder and used as an inspiration to create the Mantis lamp series. Bernhard Schottlander's lamps uses a clever system of counter-weights combined with a series of strong, flexible and beautifully fine metal arms create an eternal play between balance and imbalance.

The name Bernard Schottlander is only used to describe the characteristics of the goods made to the original design, and not as a trade mark.
