Designed in 1958 the EGG CHAIR was a classic example of the work of Arne Jacobsen and is the inspiration for our retro reproduction EGG CHAIR with which we pay homage to this innovative and forward thinking designer. He is best known in modernist design circles for his eclectic collection of chairs, which were considered his fundamental quest of seeking perfectionism. Continuously pushing the boundaries of what was considered aesthetic design lines, he maintained the sweeping lines of the classics yet every piece he created was modern to the extreme. Our collections of retro reproductions which exemplify his work are continuously among our top selling range.

The name Arne Jacobsen is only used to describe the characteristics of the goods made to the original design, and not as a trade mark.

Arne Emil Jacobsen

Arne Emil Jacobsen (1902 -1971) was a Danish architect and designer. In particular, he is remembered for developing the 'Danish Modern' style and for contributing so much to architectural functionalism. In addition to his architectural work, he was one ofof the most important contributors to Danish design, especially as a result of the worldwide success he enjoyed with simple but effective chair designs.
