Our reproduction SWAN LOVESEAT is based on one of Danish furniture designer Arne Jacobsen less well known designs. The SWAN LOVESEAT was a limited edition and never went into mass production which is perhaps a shame, because this iconic piece of furniture was considered a groundbreaker at the time of its introduction. It was designed in 1958 and saw the light of day in the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. A couple of these iconic pieces are on display in permanent exhibitions, and this example is one of a series he produced which included but was not limited to the egg chair and the swan chair.

The name Arne Jacobsen is only used to describe the characteristics of the goods made to the original design, and not as a trade mark.

Arne Emil Jacobsen

Arne Emil Jacobsen (1902 -1971) was a Danish architect and designer. In particular, he is remembered for developing the 'Danish Modern' style and for contributing so much to architectural functionalism. In addition to his architectural work, he was one ofof the most important contributors to Danish design, especially as a result of the worldwide success he enjoyed with simple but effective chair designs.
