DetailsThe Zig-Zag chair is one of the best known works of Gerrit Thomas Rietveld. The design is an expression of the "De Stijl" movement and is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art. The idea of making a chair out of a single, continuous surface had preoccupied Rietveld since 1927 and he finally achieved success with the chair in 1934. The simplicity of the design belies its relatively complex construction – the master has used only four elements in a way that they dovetail each other.
Inspired by his work, we have reproduced the chair to exact dimensions in three different colours, to make it affordable to a wider audience.
